Local Darlington CAMRA Member & well known Craft Brewer Pete Fenwick has realised his dream – opening a microbrewery in an old stables, near his home in the village of Aldbrough St John. After 8 years of brewing 5 & 10 gallon brews in the kitchen (to the annoyance of his wife, Corinna) & a lot of saving up Mithril Ales’s 2.5bbl brew plant arrives on April 7^th 2010.

Pete plans to brew on weekends mainly for our local market. To be found in free houses in the Darlington & Richmond area.

The brewery is named Mithril after his house in the village, which he named almost 30 years ago. The name comes from The Lord of The Rings & is “Dwarf Silver” or “True “Silver”, named “Mithril” by the elves – stronger than steel. In the Brewery Logo an Elf Maiden is depicted.
